Cardabilities DT Reveal Sketch #30

Hi there friends,
Here we are at the end of April, yikes! But that means it's time for a brand spankin' new Cardabilities sketch. Here's sketch #30:
I hope I look this good when I'm 30! ;)

Here's my card:
I made this card for my grammy's birthday. The flower cluster is a stamp from Heartfelt Creations colored with Copics. It was stamped twice so the flowers were popped up.

Here's a closer peek at that:
The centers are little pearls (Viva Decor Pearl pen). I love that Stampin Up offers some of their stamp sets in Spanish, especially sentiments cuz they're hard to find. It reads "Something special for Someone special."

The papers are from the Sweet Nectar collection that's included in my Blog Candy giveaway along with 2 Heartfelt Creation stamps & Viva Decor Pens! Today is the last day to enter, so if you haven't, be sure you do!

Time to play with us! Upload your card creation to the Cardabilities Gallery in the members section & stop by the Cardabilities blog to peek at the beautiful cards created by the rest of the DT to sketchspire ya! But wait, there's more! You're not just playing for fun...nooooooo. Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Technique Junkie!!! Yay!!! and don't forget YOU could be our next guest designer too :)

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop- April

Hi friends,
Today, I'm participating in:

This month the challenge is to create a card for a boy/ man. I've got lots of those at home so I'm usually in need of the kind of card I've got for ya today.
Here's my card:
card size: 3 x 3" (updated)
Yes, I actually made this card! As you know CAS is my kryptonite, but it was so awesome to make a card speedy quick! It's one layer, one sentiment, one hand-made embellishment! Easy peasy! I embossed the edge the card, & did a little faux stitching. My boys are always getting hurt playing sports & just being boys, so I can't waste a band-aid on a card, so I made my own :)

Here's how quick & easy it is to make:
Step 1: (I used scrap paper, but you'll use whatever color you'd like your band-aid to be.)
I used this punch & punched 2 shapes. Cut the ends off of 1 to create the center part of the band-aid. If you don't have this punch, cut out a rectangle from cardstock & round all the corners.

Step 2: (This step is optional & not necessary if you're using pattern paper)
Run your pieces through the CB Swiss Dots embossing folder (you want the DEBOSSED side)

Step 3: Ink the edges & add foam adhesive to the center piece & adhere to the larger piece.

Tah Dah! You're done :)

Thanks so much for peeking today. I think we all need easy ideas for those pesky boy cards! I'm off to join you in the hop! If you'd like to join me, you can start at Nichole's blog---> Here.
Gotta Go!

Bunny Money

Hello friends,
I wanted to share a super quickie card I made for my boys for Easter. Making cards for boys or men are hard, right??? Especially if they happen to be related to me! But I thought I would remind them that even though they're growing older, they're still my little bunnies.
Here are the cards I made for them:
The carrot part holds some yummy Jelly Bellies and the leafy part is their favorite green stuff---> MONEY! This was so simple to do. You can crank these out in mere minutes! Wanna see how??? Here's a quick little tut for ya!

Step 1:
Using Heart Nesties make a heart pocket by folding a piece of cardstock in half & cutting it out but leaving the folded edge inside of the cut lines. Add adhesive to one side to form the pocket. No heart Nesties? No problem. Make a heart freehand.

Step 2: The Leafy Part
Initially, I was going to use regular green cardstock, but then I thought they would rather see some real green! I used $1 bills cuz I was trying it out & I didn't want to waste $5 or more if my concoction didn't work! Hee!
I used my score board to score the money so it would be easier to fold (at every 1/4") just like you were making rosettes. You can just eyeball it & accordian fold.
Step 3: Fold along the creases.

Step 4: Add REMOVABLE adhesive along the edge & fold to create a fan.

Stick a fork in it cuz it's done! Now just assemble your carrot. I added some (removable) glue dots to hold it to the card.

Here's a peek at each one:

I had to keep it simple since my boys don't go for frilly :( but if you make these for a little girl you can have a blast! The finished size is a standard card size- A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

Thanks so much for peeking today! Hope you liked this quickie little project :)
Gotta Go!

Here's my card:
I used this week's sketch at The Sweet Spot (luuuv their sketches) & this card came together speedy quick! That doesn't happen too often, so I'm grateful when it does. Especially when I'm under the weather :( sniffle, sniffle...
Card deets: Isn't this image cuuuute! It's so fun & happy :) It is called Bullfrogs & Butterflies (colored with Copics). I printed it twice & popped-up the flowers. I used the additional flowers that come with in the corner as well as the matching sentiment. The flower centers have a bit of yellow Stickles. The butterflies are Stickled out too :) All the pattern paper comes from the Sweet Nectar collection from K&Company (which is the collection that's included in my blog candy #2, if you likey!).
Here's a closer peek:
Oh, I also ran a piece of cs through the tiny bubbles embossing folder to give it the look of bumpy bullfrog skin. To finish, I let my Viva Decor pen do it's crazy thing!

Here's Sketch #29:

Here's my card:
oooh, I luv this sketch! I was inspired by the upcoming royal wedding. ;) I decided to brake out some things I haven't used before like the paper & this spellbinders crown die.

Here's a closer peek of the crown details:
I added little pearls with my Viva Decor pearl pen. The banner is another Spellbinder's die. The ribbon banner reads "congratulations" in silver foil. This fabbie sketch allows for a mix of simplicity with a sprinkling of detail---> gotta love that.

We would love it if you played along with us- show us your card abilities! Upload your card creation by the 29th and maybe YOU will be a Cardabilities Guest Designer!

Isn't it adorable??? I printed the image twice so I could pop up the flower. I then staggered it a bit so it's not lined up with the base flower this way, it makes the flower appear fuller. It's colored with Copics & it got a Diamond Glaze bath. I topped it off with a heart button.

 Here's a closer peek:
I added some pearls with my Viva Decor Pearl pen a la Sankari :)

Thanks a bunch for peeking today!

Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
This is a tender, pulls at your heartstrings story about growing up & growing older. The first time I read this book was during my first week of teaching. I picked out a book from the classroom library to read to my second graders. I looked at the cover & thought "Ok, this looks interesting. It'll probably make a good read-aloud book" and I started reading it to them. Well, if you've read this book you might guess what happened next! So I was reading the book to my students & all was well until I got a little bit past the middle. Then it all fell apart----> more like, I fell apart! I started weeping & crying IN FRONT OF THE KIDS while reading the book!!! I was able to finish reading it, but poor kids were asking me "Mrs. Miranda, are you OK? Don't be sad. Do you want me to get you a Kleenex?" Oh my gosh, not my best teaching moment! But that day I learned one valuable lesson: always PREVIEW a book before I read it aloud to them! LOL!

Phew!  Before your fingers get fiesty, remember to read THE RULES---> HERE. Leave your comment(s) on this post for Blog Candy #2.  You can leave a comment about whatever you'd like but I do have a question, if you'd like to answer it. ---> What is a life lesson you've learned that you'd like to pass on to others?
Good Luck friends!
